There is one less dangerous and reckless driver on the nation’s roadways thanks to the efforts of Nevada resident Brandon Francis. Francis earned the medal of bravery award for the week, by executing a complete armed citizen’s arrest of an alleged hit and run driver Monday night, after a pedestrian was struck in Las Vegas. A bystander caught the full takedown on video.
According to reports, the driver hit a pedestrian with a vehicle and attempted to flee the scene. Francis immediately blocked the suspect’s escape path and jumped out of his vehicle with a firearm drawn. He was able to subdue the suspect until police arrived.
The driver, Matthew Shaykin, is expected to face criminal charges. The victim suffered multiple broken bones, but hospital officials believe that the injuries appear to be non-life threatening.
