The hunt to discover objective news stories pertaining to gun owners and subsequent content in the post-apocalyptic Mad Max nuclear mass media wasteland world, where the press and online sources are the overburdening global carnage, and credible narratives are the rare untainted supply of water which halts the horrors of transmutation, rivals an arduous and sometimes fruitless hunt for treasure. However, in the staunch environment of reality facilitated by consequences, the acting is actually good (no offense to the imaginative writers of the Mad Max series).
This vein of diversion continued on a grand scale Sunday, as once again an important and peaceful pro-rally firearm featured a dearth of national media attention. KBOI-TV reports that a group of roughly 100 demonstrators gathered at a location in Boise and marched peacefully to the statehouse steps to rally and listen to speakers. The nation’s press is now Zero for Two in the calendar year and the hypocrisy continues after the obvious blunder.
As the intentional under-reporting continues, the sensible audience is merely playing the role of a captive pawn to royal doses of bias spurred by desperate newsrooms and quirky algorithms. Keeping up with the Hollywood theme and the somewhat intriguing metaphors, the weathered gatekeepers at the major information conduits will claim that the airing of the Oscars prevented any tangible efforts in allocating valuable resources of “journalism” to effectively report on an organized group following correct protocol in exercising their collective First Amendment rights in demanding the preservation of the Second Amendment, and in the wake of their efforts, a complete absence of property damage, violence, litter and an overall waste of tax payer monies. However, the obvious malady afflicting the ability of media to maintain any semblance of balance in reporting and perverting the vital structure of fact checking, is a searing case of entitlement combined with the loyalty to a captive audience of reactionaries and radicals. While adhering to the bottom line is vital to the success of business, to ignore basic professional ethics and morays in the heat of political and ideological debate is beyond deplorable in the s0-called pursuit for truth. And there is no hope of Mad Max with his wolf riding shotgun rectifying the situation anytime soon.
