Love or what is perceived as love, can be complicated and at times a hot mess of drama leading to violence.
A 30-year-old California man learned the hard way that harassing an ex-girlfriend, threatening bodily harm to her boyfriend, and wielding a knife has dire consequences. Fortunately, for the perpetrator, the incident did not cost him his life.
According to the Record Searchlight, the beleaguered man threatened the current boyfriend early Saturday. Later in the day, the suspect approached a residence where the happy couple was situated, and caused a disturbance. Allegedly, the man threatened to stab the boyfriend and was promptly shot in the leg. What could have been an ugly melee was diffused with a single shot. Police responded and determined that the decision of the boyfriend to thwart the attack with a firearm was justifiable self-defense.
The broken-hearted crook was treated for non life-threatening injuries and left to lick his wounds in a jail cell along with a permanent record, which includes the pending criminal charges of making threats and battery. There is a good chance that he will not bother the lovebirds again.
The moral of the story, if the relationship is over, move on.
