Liberal Gun Clubs Surge After Trump Election!

December 25, 2016 By Erik Walters

2016 gun sales broke all records as worried Republicans feared a possible Hillary Clinton presidency and further infringement on their Second Amendment rights. On Black Friday, we saw an mind-boggling 185,713 FBI background checks breaking the single day record. Yet since Trump was elected some gun manufacturers have noticed a 20% decline as those fears abated. But it didn’t last long.

Now, a new group of concerned citizens it jacking up guns sales: liberals.

Blaming a fear of a Trump presidency, liberals and minority groups are showing up a gun shops across America in record numbers, often for the first time.

According to the BBC :

Lara Smith of the Liberal Gun Club claims membership has risen by 10% since the election and she’s being flooded with curious callers. Smith said most new members are very reluctant to becoming gun owners. The club operates in all 50 states.

Smith voted for Clinton and described herself as a “moderate Democrat.” She said, “There is definitely a feeling that liberals hate guns.”

“If you go into [more conservative] gun forums and discuss your politics, you are very clearly not welcome,” Smith added. “‘Libtard’ is one of the nicer things they say. It can get pretty nasty very quickly.”

However, she says members in her forums catch the irony and joke about sipping their herbal tea and doing a bit of yoga before hitting the range.”

Polls indicate that in the late 1970s, over half of American households had guns. That number has gone down until now only 35% do — 55% Republicans, and 32% Democrats, but the ratio could be changing.

In an excerpt from an NPR interview with Lara Smith she explains that interest in firearms is on the rise from left-leaning Americans after Trump’s election. When asked about liberals arming up as a result of Trump’s presidency Smith responded quite favorably that the concern was “a very small minority . . .”

From All Things Considered.

I think, one, there’s a very small subset who feel concerned about the new government. Specifically, is this new government going to take their guns because they’ve spoken out about an issue that Trump or the Republicans are seen as not supporting, whether it be LGBTQ rights, the environment, all sorts of issues. That’s a small subset. More what we’re seeing are people who are worried about their safety as a result of some of the rhetoric that was heard during the campaign – not so much from the campaign but from really fringe groups who have encouraged a rise in hate crimes or a perceived rise in hate crimes.”
