Idaho legislator wants to help educate high school students on proper gun use.
Switzerland has the highest percent of civilian gun ownership in the world, and the lowest gun crime rate. One reason, gun training for all citizens who participate in the defense of their country.
Now, Representative Ron Nate, a Republican from Rexburg, Idaho, is supporting legislation encouraging public schools to offer gun safety courses as electives for Idaho high school students.
According to localnews8, if the proposed legislation passes, firearms would be permitted to be used in schools during the course, but live ammunition would be banned. Instructors would have to be from the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, a law enforcement agency or a firearms organization.
The House Education Committee agreed to introduce the measure, clearing it for a full hearing.
