A suspected car thief learned the hard way that barging into a random home is not the most effective method of evading law enforcement, especially when an armed teenager is standing on the other side of the door.
KHQ-TV reports that the positive identification of a car stolen on Monday morning triggered a series of events which culminated in the brave 17-year-old girl pointing a gun at an intruder and literally scaring the perp away.
Apparently, Spokane, Washington police were unsuccessful in pulling over a driver in a “hot” vehicle, and a chase ensued into a residential neighborhood. Fortunately, the girl’s boyfriend was watching a local newscast where the event was unfolding on live television, and recognized that she could be in possible danger. He contacted the girl’s parents, who were at work, and the girl’s father was able to get in touch with his daughter about the fugitive.
Sure enough, the crook forced his way into the family’s home, as the super teenager gave an play-by-play account to her father over the phone. The conscientious dad quickly approved of her plan to utilize one of his guns to thwart the intrusion, and the rest is history. The daughter chased the car thief out of the house and fired one shot into the ground to ensure that he would not be returning to the property anytime soon.
