While certain political figures are doing their worst impersonation of empathetic humans lacking any merciful sentiments, of course certain members of the press have joined the shameless fray of pushing an agenda and marked by blatant self-aggrandizing and grandstanding.
While Nicholas Kristof, a blatant source of leftist rhetoric, may not be the first journalist hack to cross the invisible line of decency (he won’t be the last), his post mortem op-ed was circulated nationally in the wake of tragedy in disturbing and indecent fashion as the body count for family members and fellow Americans continues to climb. Kristof’s “piece” appeared in the Monday edition of the Seattle Times, a known destination for progressive ideals, and an imbalance in perspective.
In very briefly dissecting the contents of the cold blooded article, Kristof proposes eight measures in what he believes will prevent further incidents, including the following Nobel Peace Prize level of diplomatic rhetoric.
“2. Impose a minimum age limit of 21 on gun purchases. This is already the law for handgun purchases in many states, and it mirrors the law on buying alcohol.
3. Enforce a ban on possession of guns by anyone subject to a domestic violence protection order. This is a moment when people are upset and prone to violence against their exes.
4. Limit gun purchases by any one person to no more than, say, two a month, and tighten rules on straw purchasers who buy for criminals. Make serial numbers harder to remove.”
God Bless the victims and families, and our hearts and prayers go out to everyone who was affected by the tragedy.
