Paying homage to the 1980’s cold war witticisms of Yakov Smirnoff and the bold disciples of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, it is all about putting on a show for the Holidays, and of course at the possible expense of the entire neighborhood’s sanity.
YouTube user SteveKfilms displays the best and the worst handiwork of Christmas lights aficionados bordering on the insane, as entire homes and landscapes are literally draped with hundreds of thousands of tiny bulbs, which range in array of Holiday colors. If the bold designs of lights are not enough to garner attention, many of the displays are themed with props that range from holiday gifts to rock and roll, and some feature music and sound effects.
While the kids and thousands of visitors to the neighborhood may experience the magic of December through the countless strands of Las Vegas style lights, on the other hand spouses and those paying the electric bill probably have a contrary opinion. Most importantly, there is no official word from the North Pole, whether or not an indirect attempt at a world record Christmas display, guarantees a visit from Santa.
