The only pure fact in the tale of the transgender teen, who recently earned another controversial state title on the mats, is that Mack Beggs is transitioning from female to male. Whether or not there is any semblance of agreement or detraction to the process of gender reassignment, is simply the tip of the iceberg in a delicate and complex debate, which has lasting ramifications for the future of societal integrity.
Beggs, an 18-year-old wrestling in the 110 pound classification, defended his title in dominating fashion, while employing a suffocating parry of attacks, holds, and sometimes eliciting primal fear against a slew of female opponents. Fox News profiles the controversy of a boy wrestling against girls and the subsequent ire and criticism drawn from parents, coaches and the public. The high school senior’s arduous journey to the championship circle demands a thorough discussion through multitudinous and uncomfortable channels.
Who is to blame in this quandary of a pickle of an apparent political correctness gone amok futuristic nightmare we all face either directly or indirectly, as reckless legalism threatens to deter basic Constitutional rights? Should the presence of a statistical anomaly demand the precious commodities of time and energy to be intricately woven and assimilated into the tapestry of social morays, while at the same time, the steadfast beliefs of a majority are completely discounted?
Unfortunately, for Beggs and opponents, Texas state high school athletic policy offered no latitude in providing a simple solution to a modern problem. What it listed on the birth certificate is scripture. While the teen, family, and fellow wrestlers and parents were implicit that he should be wrestling against the boys, the state interscholastic athletic governing body offered no recourse. This issue is further intensified by the presence of steroids within Begg’s system in prompting his transformation. The egregious unfair competitive advantage magnified by the PED’s, further puts the athletic officials behind the veritable eight ball. Of course, the real victims are the girls who had to face Beggs and lost the the opportunity to become high school champions, an opportunity that will never again present itself.
With a disturbing precedent painstakingly emerging from the womb of discontent that threatens the future of women’s athletics, how will the state and the nation handle a generation of young men who see the bright lights of scholarship and financial opportunity in identifying as women for the sake of personal gain in dominating a sport? For every Beggs, there will exist thousands employing the blatant mechanism of exploitation, gracefully rebranded by progressives as “liberation”. No, a lurking 6’10 small college level talent, would never attempt to facilitate circumnavigate the surgical pathway in lobbying for a hall of fame career in the WNBA. Gender identity as a convenience is a nasty industry that has only just begun.
As birth and the presence of two genders no longer suffice as viable concepts and suitable options for existence, the statistical minority’s assault on the majority and religion, threatens the present and the near future in handicapping the legal system and government with an industrial load of tedious policy, while the rest of us walk on eggshells and god forbid we do not offend anybody or have are businesses shutdown by a civil lawsuit by a former employee formerly known as “Bertha”. When the extremists employ “trickle down confusion”, it is a trivial and sobering notion that having a tequila shot and identifying as a man is still quite legal, unless it is lady’s night and making a temporary transformation will save two dollars on drinks.
The somewhat happy ending to the boy who defeated the girls on the wrestling mat, is that Begg’s has made it public that he will be wrestling at a small university for his freshmen year of college, and on the men’s team.
