The ACLU Asked For A Week, But…
A US District Court Judge ruled Monday that families recently reunited along the US-Mexico border could not be “deported” to their home country until further review. The ruling set the stage for another showdown with the Trump administration as they continue to quell the influx of illegal immigrants that were flooding into the United States.
According to Hannity.com:
San Diego-based Judge Dana Sabraw ruled this week that attorneys and immigration officials needed to more time to decide the fate of those families separated while attempting to illegally enter the United States.
The ruling effectively halts the federal government from deporting the migrant families; raising new questions over whether they should be held in family detention centers or released temporarily into the United States.
“A one-week stay is a reasonable and appropriate remedy to ensure that the unimaginable trauma these families have suffered does not turn even worse because parents made an uninformed decision about the fate of their child,” said an ACLU lawyer.
The ACLU argued that a week delay would be necessary for parents to have time to fully consider the decision whether to have their children deported along with them.
