The dubious existence of F***book and Twitter as the official/unofficial sanctuary digital social networks for the most vile offenders of truth and decency in offering the intoxicating narcotic experience of anonymous validation, has long since shattered the threshold of the insidiously deplorable, as fragments of the base pillars of society lay in patterned river of debris flowing from the gory automobile crash site, where a self-driving car was successfully programmed to eliminate a prominent political donor.
The human operator of the vehicle allegedly momentarily distracted by a trio of virtual reality apps, 10 text conversations, and engaged in a real-time drone camera assisted urban motorcycle race game through the winding maze Prague, simply did not notice the pedestrian through the silence of the thousands of fail-safe redundancies guaranteed by the manufacturer. Not that it would have mattered.
The marketing team of Visit Las Vegas would be thoroughly disappointed to know that what happens in the online communities does certainly not stay there, even with the solitary confinement and shackles quantum singularity gravitational pull of a good old fashioned unctuous witch trial of a public figure who does not align with the hip and gaudy shimmering ideology of the day shrouded in toxic vitriol. However, within the bustling data universe of the digital construct, the fairy tale nightmare of make believe land, where the future is the past and the present is a rainbow unicorn subsisting on corrosively editing the biographies of cultural icons, truth becomes the minion to the insatiable behemoth of instant gratification.
As the two largest social universes have adopted aggressive onsite policy to engineer the once realm of free thought and open forum for the exchange of ideas into a fervent environment ideal for the propagation of “thought police” tactics and forceful inclusion, the maniac extremists are thriving against a dwindling resistance, in sharing content and forwarding agendas that annually defy reality. The trending victim, through a series of recent merciless and deflating exchanges is the subject of history, or in the minds of the nameless posters, “the history which I choose to believe based on my personal opinion. screw the evidence, screw the research, screw the legacy, what I believe in, it is the true past.” Social networks are a soap box platform for the loud, the proud, and the tragically unbalanced in lacking general critical thinking skills.
The venerable Winston Churchill is no longer culturally relevant, as great facilitator in swaying the fortunes of the Allies in establishing the pathway to defeat the Nazis and Hitler in WWII. At least according to the incorrigible rules of the Twittersphere. US Astronaut Scott Kelly found out the hard way, that in the intolerant milieu of gargantuan social networks, simply quoting a legendary leader is akin to digital suicide, but only if one chooses to engage the trolls, reports the BBC.
The billion dollar question is why do people still leave their reputation vulnerable on communities hosted by corporations with a self-proclaimed one-sided agenda, in having to fight through an opposition of programmed bots and reprehensible individuals, who face zero consequences for their insufferable rhetoric, multiple appearances with different usernames on the same platform, and juvenile tactics towards a reasonable opinion. Advice to normal people, just delete the damned account already and don’t waste time on this nonsense.
If it was only that simple.
With the reality that the concepts of fact and history are slowly being transformed through agendas and opinions, and the younger generations hopelessly naive to the nightmarish ramifications of an ever changing legacy benefiting certain groups in power, it is the responsibility of concerned Americans to battle the megalomaniacs in providing any hope of maintaining a free society. and not to mention a heritage.
How did Kelly respond to the insane accusations of bigotry, insensitivity and general falsehoods perpetuated towards the legacy of Churchill? Like a true icon of the modern bureaucracy of NASA, he disturbingly rolled over and pandered to the trolls in a pathetic display of disingenuous weakness, or the antithesis to the idea of a true hero, a distinction and honor once earned by the true space pioneers of the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo missions. A position not surprising, considering he was invited to speak at Google headquarters in 2017.
While the husband of Gabby Giffords took the cowardly wide thoroughfare of the paved over Manhattan pathway teeming with self-driving cars and not one of the vehicle occupants noticing the gentle gray mist transformation of summer into autumn, or the subtle realignment of an insignificant historical record in the electronic ledger permanently deleting an entry that was once true, that was truly fact, civilization persists, at least until the next troll attack concerning a conservative figurehead, threatens to overtake the daily news cycle.
