A Kentucky star high school football player’s college football dreams perhaps have been derailed after he got himself into legal hot water over an alleged theft of guns.
According to the Danville, KY, Advocate-Messenger, police in that town arrested the player, 18-year old Landon Bartleson, and two 16-year old teenagers, and charged the trio with first degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief in connecttion with the break-in which allegedly occurred at the On Target gun shop in Danville last week. They are also alleged to have stolen a Lexus vehicle from a local college campus at around the time of the alleged burglary at the gun shop, according to police.
Police say that multiple weapons were taken in the alleged burglary, but that all of those guns have been recovered. Bartleson had signed what is known as a national letter of intent to receive a football scholarship from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, but according to ESPN, the university released him from that letter upon word of the arrest.
All are in jail and there is no word on whether any or all have been released.
