The zany and fetid waters of the recalibrated social morays have seeped through the drains of the liberal arts college coed showers in the Pacific Northwest and have tainted the entirety of the ideological groundwater system bordering the coast, leading to the brainwashed insanity of politicians and business leaders. The contaminants range from entitlement and advanced victimhood the biproducts of self-introspective leech therapy appreciation chanting sessions, to prolific separation anxiety syndrome mimicked from pets. Symptoms from stagnant water and the hazy smog of limitless gender pronouns, include a general apathy and malaise resulting in a belief that big government is the solution to all of life’s problems, and compromise is a secular sin. With the complexities apparent in all aspects of municipal and state organizations, creating a triple negative drone wreck of havoc when facing an actual civic crises, the alleged leadership of the broken starship of benevolence, who were themselves once upon a midsummers dream groomed as worker bees serving the nanny state, carry all their idealistic flaws on their quivering shoulders as a burden that society is forced to endure.
In the wake of Big Ten athletic conference authorities getting their act together and establishing a specific timeline to resume college football, the atmosphere in the bizarre and spooky blue dominated region of the west coast has resulted in a frenzy of thumb twiddling and a keystone cops abomination of virtue signaling that has equated to indecision, mismanagement, and failure by elected officials to have even the faintest grasps of the Covid-19 mandates that were drafted in an emotional haste. Once again, the Pac-12 has proven that superficially courteous back-stabbing athletic organizations finish last.
The adoption of accurate and nearly instantaneous virus testing protocol with the sphere of isolated athletic bubbles paved the way for Big Ten university presidents to give the green light for a late October start to a least a conference season. The conference joins the ACC, the Big-12, and the SEC as sporting organizations representing student athletes following strict procedure in playing actual games on the gridiron, leaving the Pac-12 as the red headed step child caught out in the balmy carboniferous era smoke of late Autumn wildfires.
As the self-proclaimed “conference of champions”, the Pace-12 brass scrambles to navigate coronavirus emergency legislation recklessly imposed by overzealous public servants unable to see beyond the shadow of an ego, and the nation scoffs at a group of universities content on highlighting excellence in Olympic sports. Further laughter stems from the conference ignoring the reality that football and the subsequent television money and donations, funds the entire yearly athletic department fiscal budget, a fact that is not lost on the smaller market schools where the need for this symbiotic relationship is patently obvious by the examples of Corvallis, Oregon, and Pullman, Washington.
The cognitive dissonance is insufferable, but the feigned ignorance is willfully intolerable.
California Governor Gavin Newsom epitomizes all that is deviously flawed in career lawmakers by creating needless bureaucratic havoc that proves nearly impossible to overcome. The three NFL teams in the state have resumed standard operating procedure thus far with no glitches, and the entire league hosted the opening of the season last Sunday. However, college and amateur athletics face a monumental vertical climb of just getting back onto the practice field. Current policy states that players cannot practice in groups of more than 10, an obvious logistical hurdle when looking at basic participation requirements for football, or for that matter baseball, or volleyball or soccer. Schools simply can’t engage in full scrimmages in properly preparing for live game action as enforced by the state, an infuriating comedy that is not surprising considering the roster of yahoos that supposedly represent the people.
The strict and confusing stipulations approved by Newsom and health professionals do not prevent the four major college teams throughout the state from actually playing games, but the ambiguous lexicon specifically regulates organized team activities, verbiage that has already sparked a heated controversy as experts and fans attempt to digest the consequences of tacit oversight. This a complete waste of time and money, but politicians in Newsom’s ilk simply adhere to the phrase of “one more drop in the bucket”.
It did not have to be this painfully difficult.
The issue is not just with Newsom drafting harsh restrictions on student athletes due to the unknowns surround Covid-19, the problem revolves around the pretended and disingenuous gesture of the politician in failing to read or authenticate how he mucked up a possible restart to the season. It’s beyond annoying and unsettling when a lawmaker, who signed a series of documents, fails to actually read what they enacted upon their constituents. The arrogance is resounding and follows neither suitable governance or a basic comprehension of science. As the Dear Leader of the Golden State has caved into party lines, irreparable damage has been inflicted on all levels.
Newsom gave California professional football teams a waiver to hold full practices in the wake of the unsuitable restrictions placed on all levels of athletes, and the quandary that NCAA teams face is overcoming the directives of the governor, while providing suitable testing protocol and this includes keeping players within a safe bubble. Unfortunately, the legislative response to Covid-19 as it pertains to sporting events within the state, does not leave much latitude for options in the absence of a universal vaccine. In the aftermath of the nightmarish Freddy Kreuger type horror of logistics, a inordinate burden of proof is required by government to even begin discussion for an abbreviated season, and the whole suffers as a result.
Equally accountable for the incorrigible gaff is Pac-12 conference commissioner Larry Scott, who’s complete dearth of leadership and comprehension at the price tag a 4 million dollars annual salary, has cost the league and players a priceless magnitude of respect and an alarming loss of reputation. As the “if and not when” inevitability has been completely ignored, the next few weeks merely supply a duct-tape solution for a colossal failure on all levels of management and stewardship.
What gets lost within the whole shuffle is that 11 on 11 highly skilled and resilient athletes, and cogent adults, who will be violently colliding on every play during an intense game, and the potential damming fate from a virus is the last thing on the mind of valiant warriors competing for every yard. In other words, the proliferation of Covid-19 is the least of the worries as student athletes contained within stringent biospheres will battle on selected Saturdays with the focus on winning and staying healthy, and not on the self-defeating principles of those jaded and ultimately hindered by the propaganda promise of the mainstream media and researchers set on carving their individual names into the annals of history for undeserved glory.
