All of a sudden, the financial affairs of Hunter Biden, son of President-elect Joe Biden, are news in a development smelling of media bias perhaps made clear by Fox News’ Joseph A. Wulfsohn, who noted this media attention comes “now that his father has already won the presidential election.”
Reports about the ongoing investigation of the younger Biden’s business dealings are showing up at CNN, the New York Times, CBS News and other establishment media. The investigation reportedly is being conducted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware, Biden’s home state and according to the New York Times, “It was opened in late 2018 and has included inquiries into potential criminal violations of tax and money laundering laws, according to people familiar with the inquiry.” The Times story adds, “The money laundering aspect of the case failed to gain traction after F.B.I. agents were unable to gather enough evidence for a prosecution, the people said.”
CNN’s approach is to blame federal authorities for “going quiet in the months before the election” for the silence surrounding the Hunter Biden story. But can this be anything but a flimsy sham, since there is ample suspicion that if one of Donald Trump’s sons were the target instead of Biden junior, the “legacy” media would have relentlessly pursued it.
Perhaps the best perspective on this came from the Boston Herald two months ago when the newspaper editorialized, “If any doubt remained that the mainstream media is a subset of the Democratic Party, this should dispel it. We’ve gone through three and a half years of speculation, conjecture and ‘sources said’ stories about President Trump, complete with periodic armchair analysis by psychiatrists who’ve weighed in on his mental health…The president has always been seen as fair game, but as one can see, the game isn’t fair.”
According to Wulfsohn’s narrative at Fox, “In the final weeks of the campaign, there was an unprecedented media blackout of the explosive reporting from the New York Post that shed light on Hunter Biden’s questionable business dealings overseas.”
If the investigation of Hunter Biden results in criminal charges, President Biden would be in a very uncomfortable position. This raises the question whether any investigation will continue after Biden takes office Jan. 20, and if that were to happen, critics would say it fits a pattern:

There might be another possibility, a scenario for which Donald Trump would be burned at the stake. Would Biden pardon his son, in the event he were tried and convicted?
It’s all speculation at this point. Hunter Biden hasn’t been convicted of a crime. He hasn’t even been charged with a crime. He is simply the subject of an investigation which may, or may not, go anywhere. Just because someone is being investigated for possible criminal violations does not automatically translate to guilt.
What the younger Biden may, or may not, have done isn’t the point anyway. The real issue is media bias, and whether the mainstream suppressed information about Hunter’s situation that might have cost Joe the election had it been reported prior to Nov. 3.
But it wasn’t reported and Biden is on his way to achieving a goal he’s sought for decades.
