Two weeks in the White House, and Joe Biden still hasn’t launched the anticipated offensive against Second Amendment rights, but that’s about to change, according to a report in the Washington Examiner.
According to veteran columnist Paul Bedard, the delay has been “because he’s leaving it to two key nominees to take the fight to the industry, Attorney general nominee Merrick Garland and surgeon general choice Dr. Vivek Murthy, both gun control advocates.”
As reported earlier, gun sales across the nation are continuing to surge with Biden now in the White House, having fulfilled a crusade started nearly 40 years ago. He ran for president twice before.
Biden’s history of gun control support is public knowledge. His manifesto for solving the “gun violence epidemic” has been posted online for more than a year. AmmoLand News is reporting that gun control advocates look at his presidency as a “dream come true.” Now comes Bedard with an update which includes an assertion gun prohibitionists are eager for Murthy “to use his potential platform to call for gun control and push for the creation of a ‘national bureau’ for gun safety that would boost taxes on guns and ammo, push ‘smart’ safety technology, and require regular gun checks and proof of gun safes.”
Second Amendment activists wonder what that means, to “require regular checks and proof of gun safes.” Does that mean unannounced visits to the homes of gun owners? Warrantless searches of residences to determine whether gun owners store their firearms in gun safes?
Fox News is reporting that January background checks statistics show people are buying guns at a “blistering pace.” The 4.317 million checks conducted in January is the highest number of checks in a one-month period, according to Small Arms Analytics and Forecasting (SAAF). In a news release Tuesday, the group estimated actual gun sales in January were “slightly over 2.2 million units.”

SAAF’s Jurgen Brauer said last month’s spiking sales were “due to the turmoil surrounding the confirmation and inauguration of Mr. Biden as the new U.S. President. The 79% year-over-year increase, however, was NOT unprecedented – an even higher increase, of just over 100%, was experienced in January 2013, the month Mr. Obama’s second presidential term began.”
Certain to add to the fireworks, Colorado Congressman Jason Crow reportedly reintroduced legislation to prevent out-of-state residents from purchasing long guns, which has been legal under federal statute. But Crow is calling his bill the “Closing the Loophole on Interstate Firearms Sales Act,” according to Colorado Politics.
In his gun control agenda, Biden identified several alleged “loopholes,” prompting gun rights activists to declare the Second Amendment “is a loophole” among the gun control crowd.
