Cue the twiddling and majestic violins accompanied by a sole harp… As the conniving savage rodent gracelessly yields to the robust benevolence of the Ox in the ceremony of lunar transcendence, will the fusion of cultures, and blurring of nuances equate to a formidable doom?
The forthcoming clip of the Chinese calendar of 2021 cannot be any worse than the previous year based on astrology or reality, however, the bureaucrats of Beijing have bestowed another flummoxing move on society in an internal series of perpetual gifts that conjure the insufferable and test the comprehensive resolve.
In a sense, the submissive tactics and violent gag orders of the media by Beijing in maintaining a totalitarian choke hold on unfortunate citizens, can be viewed as an amiable shield, deflecting possible fake content from the likes of CNN, the BBC, and the New York Times. With the wealth of content options available to US consumers, creating a daunting maelstrom for the average person in sifting through fact or rhetoric to achieve a plausible local and world perspective, in the presence of the toxic political climate, at certain instances, a state controlled flow of information could actually be argued as a better alternative than the Manifest Destiny of multitudinous violently coalescing and creating a unrepairable rift as a consequence of the information age.
Unfortunately, for the Chinese working and slaves castes, CNN and the New York Times are readily accessible to the billions, as the propaganda and scandalous reporting methodologies align with the directive and tactics of the central government and the Communist party. As of recently, BBC News broadcasts have been intermittently banned within the empire in the latest of controversial moves by the government to staunch the flow of data in customizing a horrific existence for those poor souls enduring at the very best, an end user experience that defies basic satisfaction in experiencing a paltry quality of life. On the surface, the move is a simple involuntary response by the anti-diplomatic creature, after the British government revoked the broadcasting license of the state-owned China Global Television Network in ceasing distribution of the news channel on UK soil. However, with BBC journalists applying pressure to party leaders currently engaged in massive societal engineering projects involving disturbing human atrocities, the ulterior motive of China to silence the messenger falls just south of the patently obvious.
It’s a sobering thought to recognize that hundreds millions of unfortunate Chinese citizens are actively prone and subject to the abuse by government mechanisms, and emphasizes the opinion that a small percentage of journalists striving for the truth still exist, or in this case awakening a large group of people and exposing them to hope, or at least a stabilizing notion of fact.
In another sense, the stark termination of an “old friends” relationship responsible for the preservation of heritage in the turbulent wake of the Qing dynasty evaporation, is a jolting, but not shocking occurrence, when weighing the various metrics and values which dictate the trajectory of a regime enduring crippling internecine, yet remaining a insatiable predator to the plunders of the West. Without any formidable challenger after BBC’s monumental exit, the party’s mouthpiece of Xinhua now threatens complete annihilation of any minority bold enough to fall out of favor with the wrong government official.
The bi-polar affliction suffered by Beijing in the startling cannibalization of eternal components, but brandishing an empire building international persona, does not detract from the gravity of the banishment of the BBC. As the trio of China, Google, and F***book continue to assault the remaining factions of journalistic integrity in attempting to monopolize all content categorized under the pretense of news, free speech hangs in the balance- a scenario ripe for the pillaging of glorified bandits. With a credible news organization unceremoniously 86’ed onto the sidewalk of obscurity by the bully pulpit, is this the writing on the proverbial wall for the stifling invasion of propaganda, and fact hoisting a white flag of surrender.
The digital hierarchy once had an abstract and intoxicating dream of a deregulated electronic paradise impervious to controlling and bureaucratic elements, however that fairytale fantasy was quickly assassinated and buried by human nature and the drive for competition, in capturing, dividing, and monetizing vast territories of the internet in an age of corporate renaissance. Once the template was established for fruitful bounties awarded to relentless conquerors, the black sheep dissident governments of the world joined the fray. This only cements the need for traditional information gathering and disseminating mediums to remain viable and robust in separating the convoluted ingredients of a ceaselessly confusing world.
China’s fluidic, yet continuous drive to vaporize all competitors, including non-essential limbs of the dragon, has been in the works for a quarter of a century, and with the divisive political climate within the US, the grand plan is finally coming in a horrific fruition. This sordid directive of world dominated is echoed by the prodigious Huawei, and the assorted diabolical subsidiary tentacles that was once orchestrated by the venerable puppet mastermind Jack Ma. His minions and exceptional students of manipulation have infiltrated newsrooms globally, and most notably Ted Turner’s diminutive toy empire of news behemoth.
One of the most despicable and reprehensible sidebars in this massive hijacking of the information superhighway is mentality of the typical American apologist to give Beijing undeserved latitude to improve environmental and human rights conditions. The liberal reactionary position that somehow the universe in the far east will trend towards utopia if allowed for “growing pains”, is the same hipster dog mom flawed ideology that is responsible for the half-baked ideas such as democratic socialism, the Green New deal, or the founding tenets of feminism. In each descending case of epic idealistic failures, the labels are complete misnomers and represent the exact opposite of what their incredulously authors are attempting to accomplish.
With the mass exodus of news bureaus now expected throughout China and Hong, and social media destroying small-market journalistic organizations, the purveyors of the one-world nightmarish globe are getting just what they hoped for in pushing a nefarious agenda. While the BBC does contain some radicalized elements, the corporate formula of the entity still possesses a system of checks and balances that ensures a baseline minimum standard of reason. This practice of accountability is not found within the volatile “Terms and Conditions” trickling down from the legal ease prompted by the Tech legion of doom spanning the entire West coast. Eerily, the everchanging mandates activated in a futile attempt to wrestle control way from autonomous processes gone berserk, a problematic scenario faced by tyrants in all walks of life once an organization reaches the transcendent stages of bureaucracy.
Unsettlingly, the brutal pecking order deciding any sort of consolidation and organization for the precarious construct representing the dubious trio of the the Chinese communist party, the central government, and the People’s Liberation Army, cannot account for the infiltration of the Silicon Valley lobby. Mirrors to mirrors, and reflections revealing the truth of the ominous intent, the shoot and wish approach to truth funded by billions of workers, and subsequent monetary requirements cannot preventing the impending conflict of interest brewing across the Pacific.
In a wavering nightmare of future shock, and the prevalence of metrics in calibrating the chess game forging reality, what could have been plagues the sustainability of the social network experiment, as repugnant moderation practices have all but doomed the critical compartments of the next decade. As fallout from BBC’s assignment to the forced labor camp of security intermixes with the inept understanding and conceptualization of diplomatic crises of Mark Zuckerberg and other digital tycoons, not to mention a pitiful grasp of free market journalism, the world loses an influential voice and tool of liberty, but gains another hulking Atlas-god weight of the world indiscretion as a product of the idealistic “what could have been”.
When a deliberate pause in Capitalism reaches an invasive and infuriating duality originating under Maoist pretenses potentially touching the lives of hard working people, the only recourse is to continue to battle within the confines of sensibility, and avoid the obvious extremes.
