“Thousands” of lawmen and women, firefighters and medical professionals could be lost due to national, state and local vaccine mandates, according to published reports, and now there is a report at msn.com warning, “Up to 12,000 Air Force personnel have rejected orders to get fully vaccinated against the coronavirus despite a Pentagon mandate.”
Far left politicians from Joe Biden to Washington Gov. Jay Inslee to New York Mayor Bill de Blasio have mandated vaccines and deadlines resulting in legions of departures from public service positions. While some of these individuals have opted to retire, the majority appear to be simply saying “No” to vaccination on personal and/or religious or moral grounds.
What could happen as a result? There is lots of speculation, from “very little” to anarchy and chaos, especially in major cities.
Perhaps the advice ten days ago from Seattle Police Officers Guild President Mike Solan now rings more true than ever: “Be prepared to defend yourself and your family because it’s going to be a long time before a cop can get there. That’s not alarmist talk. That’s a reality.”
During the past 20 months since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic panic, at least 8 million guns were purchased by first-time buyers. Millions of other guns were purchased by people who were already gun owners.
From all indications, increasing numbers of U.S. citizens are preparing to be their own first responders.
As the Associated Press described the situation in New York City, “Mounting trash. Closed firehouses. Fewer police and ambulances on the street. That’s the possibility New York City is bracing for come Monday as a COVID-19 vaccine mandate looms and thousands of municipal workers remain unwilling to get the shots.”
On the far side of the country geographically, KIRO Eyewitness News, the CBS affiliate in Seattle, just reported, “More than 400 state transportation workers are leaving their jobs because of Governor Jay Inslee’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate, state officials announced Tuesday.”
And KCPQ, the local Fox News affiliate, revealed, “Of the King County Sheriff’s Office’s 623 employees, 71 are waiting on exemptions and 12 did not comply.
The Seattle Police Department has lost some 300 officers over the past 20 months, as the city’s far left city council has embraced the “defund police” mantra.
But Biden’s national mandate could be placing national security at risk. If non-compliance is that high in the Air Force, what about in the Navy, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army?
The Hill reported this week, “Backlash against vaccine mandates is coming from unions representing first responders who are challenging whether elected officials can lawfully force employees to disclose medical information.
“That notion is being tested around the country,” The Hill said, “with some objections starting to make their way through the legal system…As recently as last week, the Chicago Police Department told its employees that unvaccinated officers could not only lose their jobs but also put their retirement benefits at risk.”
Another city with police manpower troubles is Portland, Oregon. The Rose City has logged 72 homicides this year so far, a new record surpassing the 66 killings back in 1987 and there are still two months remaining in 2021.
While gun prohibition lobbying groups are pushing their agenda hard, the rising crime rate and shrinking police presence in several regions have apparently combined to leave many people with but a single common sense solution: buy a gun.
Both Oregon and Washington have so-called “universal background check” laws, but they obviously haven’t curtailed the violence. And exacerbating a troubling situation by firing police because of a vaccination mandate isn’t helping the situation.
