The implied constitutional right of self-defense for every individual American, is sometimes lost on different cultures, who may or may not be trying to assimilate into the vast melting pot of the modern digital society.
With the recent immigration wave of Chinese nationals, precariously adjusting to the ebb and flow of cultural norms in establishing family and businesses, the challenge has been with the entire community in properly dealing with the criminal element, a disturbing reality that is only enhanced by a natural detachment to the important concept armed self-defense (Thank you communists). Of course the viral video released in 2016 of the brave Chinese woman kicking butt and taking names in single-handedly disposing of three armed robbers is a definite sign of progress for naturalized citizens in truly optimizing individual rights, however, actual changes in adopted widespread policy are evident, but only gradual in taking effect.
Allegedly, the immigrants have a deep mistrust in banking institutions, as the state banks in China are ripe with corruption and scandal. They have therefore become the obvious prolific and lucrative targets for criminals because of their preference to store cash earnings at their residences. The resulting formula has led to a vicious cycle of danger which has finally been addressed, thanks to the proactive efforts of resourceful individuals.
In the wake of the targeted crime wave, members of the Chinese community have apparently founded a statewide hunting club offering business owners and individuals training opportunities in armed self-defense.
The movement for effective protective measures has been facilitated by hundreds of local businesses by sending out the message to crooks, that “we can shoot back”. Hopefully, the positive movement within the community makes a productive difference and unarmed immigrants in other locations in the nation, take similar efforts in removing the vibrant red “x” squarely from the back of their heads.
With the onset of firearms and specific training resonating throughout businesses and families, another ominous presence that is being directly addressed is the reality of Triads, or the Chinese equivalent of organized crime. Historically, the bad guys with the guns, other than the Chinese military and government, in the mainland and populations abroad, have been the violent werewolf syndicates of ancient criminal enterprises. The prevalence of armed gang members on US soil “policing” local commerce and drug trade, remains a huge concern for law enforcement agencies. and the infestation may now be facing some needed interference, due to the reality that in certain parts of the country Chinese Americans are just now taking the crucial steps necessary in exercising their god given rights as citizens.
As the obstinate cyclone of the anti-gun lobby continues to threaten the concept of reasonable self-defense, it will be interesting to note the various tactics and arguments employed in attempting to vilify the crucial influx of firearms into demographic groups historically exploited by violent criminals. The silly peace loving metaphors straining with sentiment are forthcoming, it’s not a matter of if, but when.
