Liberal students at the University of California in Santa Barbara were “shocked” that former President Barack Obama also sent the National Guard to the southern border; calling the move a “huge waste of money.”
According to CNN, Obama sent 1,200 National Guard troops to the border in July 2010 to assist with undocumented immigrant apprehensions. The initial program lasted until 2011 but was extended and scaled back in 2012.
Before Obama, former President George W. Bush also sent 6,000 troops to the border to aid with immigration arrests in 2006. The program lasted two years and made 186,814 apprehensions.
According to Hannity.com:
Reporters from Campus Reform spoke with students at the left-wing university; asking their opinions on Trump’s recent decision to send troops to help protect the US-Mexico border.
“President Trump recently announced he’s going to be sending a few thousand troops down to the border… Do you support sending troops down to the border?” asked the journalist.
“I feel like it’s not justified,” said one student. “I definitely disapprove, it just puts a bad light on America.”
“Did you know that Obama did the same thing when he was president?” pressed the reporter.
“Honestly, I didn’t know that,” she admitted.”
