“Guns Can Be Pretty Damn Deadly, But This Is Just Ridiculous.”
YouTube channel TAOFLEDERMAUS encourages its viewers to send in specialized handmade ammunition for them to practice shooting with, test and evaluate for effectiveness.
“It’s Not What You Need To Protect Your Home, But These Glass Slugs Do The Job.”
Unilad.co.uk reported that in the latest Taofledermaus video a viewer named Sam created glass shotgun slugs and sent them in for the test. They wanted to see whether the glass would survive the intense shock of being shot out of a gun and hit what they’re aiming at. The presenter described them as ‘ornate fancy smancy slugs’, but inside they hide a nail to add to its destructive capabilities.

Taofledermaus reported that after loading up their 12 gage shotgun with the bullets, which look like a work of art, they did some target practice and the result was simply terrifying. The first Kevlar covered clay block didn’t stand a chance, as the slug shattered and completely annihilated it.

Next up was ‘Doug’ the dummy, complete with a Level 3 Kevlar Bullet Proof Vest. He didn’t fare much better. The pulverised glass and dust went right through the vest and straight into ‘Doug’.

Finally the lawnmower engine test. Yes the bullet cut right through a lawnmower engine. Throughout the shooting practice it became more abundantly clear that applied in real-life situations this ammunition would be deadly. As the video rightly says, these shotgun shells really are anyone’s worst nightmare.

If you got hit by one it’s over, no ifs or buts. The wound could be sealed and the bleeding stopped…..for a little while, but that powdered glass that has entred your blood stream is going to your brain. There would be no way to clean the wound 100% because of the glass powder.”
