One day before the national elections, a new Rasmussen survey says 60 percent of likely U.S. voters believe the country is heading in the wrong direction, while only 34 percent believe the nation is on the right track.
According to Rasmussen, “A year ago at this time, 29% said the United States was heading in the right direction, while 65% said it was on the wrong track.”
The poll suggests a majority of likely voters think it is time for a change, which cannot bode well for Democrat Kamala Harris, who has been part of the administration for almost the past four years. She has claimed to be part of most major administration decisions, yet she is campaigning as if she were a newcomer, prepared to change things.
The national telephone survey of 3,049 U.S. Likely Voters was conducted by Rasmussen Reports from October 27-31, 2024. The margin of sampling error for the survey is +/- 1 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence, Rasmussen said.
At the same time, while it really doesn’t mean the same as it might if Joe Biden were running, Rasmussen’s Daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows 43 percent of likely voters approve of the president’s job performance, while 55 percent disapprove. Boiled down, however, only 22 percent “strongly approve,” while 44 percent “strongly disapprove.” It gives Biden a Presidential Approval Index rating of – (minus) 22.
