Throughout the pandemic, the entire assortment of lawmakers in California, Oregon, and Washington have managed to unleash a myriad of authoritarian policies that if not for the daunting magnitudes of blue voters, would most likely be voted out of office or enduring an indictment or two. While the climate, the coast, mountains and stunning vistas of Mother Nature’s best assets set the baseline threshold high for a satisfactory quality of life, the mass migration of liberal voters from the East coast, and the proliferation of tech workers through H1-B visas, have morphed regional politics to an unrecognizable and insufferable bureaucratic word salad of policy in embracing the vision of perpetual nanny state.
Within this calculated volatility, elected officials such as San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo have emerged to quench the insatiable lust of progressives pining for the US to be transformed into Europe, or at least local municipalities adopting a feminist alter-ego to justify the annihilation of women’s sports in allowing grown-ass men to compete on the unequal playing field of transgender ideology. The bizarre and disheartening product of societal engineering run amok, which is about as far from quaintly eclectic as a Susan Sarandon disgusting abolitionist tweet mocking a cop’s funeral promotes extremism and law-abiding citizens are forced to battle for every nanometer of freedom still remaining. This is the time and place in the universe where proclamations become mandates based on fear, and the new normal has nuclear launch codes set to blast the future away in a cloud of atoms.
While Sarandon’s politics are shockingly moderate in comparison to the toxic climate that is one Little Red book away from codifying government purges on small business and sharing the plunder with the workers, Liccardo’s brazen assault on the Second Amendment should not be surprising considering his jurisdiction covers the trillion-dollar industry of Silicon Valley, and he resides in wacky and wild California.
The San Jose mayor and his colleagues drafted and passed a regressive ordinance in both making gun owners liable for the costs surrounding shooting victim regardless of the circumstances, while approving a $25 per firearm tax in bilking constituents out of hard-earned dollars to allegedly fund a public safety and research program. Unfortunately, Liccardo’s procedural Molotav cocktail is a not a forceful proclamation, yet an insidious piece of legislation that in its current variation technically gives the city power to seize a gun, if the fee is not paid. While this stipulation is unconstitutional, the snarky politician and members of the city council are indifferent through their unchecked and tiresome rhetoric while ignoring both basic liberties and Second Amendment supporters.
The apparent leadership of a city infused by the radicalized ecosystem of nearby San Francisco, which is dishearteningly exemplified by a coordinated flash mob ambush of an East Bay Nordstrom, where a cadre of hooligans hit a Nordstrom’s brick and mortar location in Walnut Creek, are oblivious to effectively running anything more complex than an unofficial PTA. During the Covid-19 posturing and consolidation of power by dissident groups averse to free will, the crime rate within San Jose has skyrocketed which indicates a multi-faceted failure to efficiently address criminal behavior. Instead of embarking on a proactive trajectory of prosecuting dangerous individuals, similar to sordid methodologies visit in San Francisco and Seattle, lawmakers have blatantly chosen to disarm residents and in the process create inevitable legal headaches which will strain public resources in challenging strict mandates that have the slightest of chance to hold up in court.
While Seattle’s outgoing and maligned mayor Jenny Durkin forwarded the unilateral fantasy of possibly prosecuting vehicle owners for crimes committed by a thug in the aftermath of a carjacking, the audacity of Liccardo and the brain trust to place the responsibility on licensed firearms owner for the actions of the crook, is only the surface level social media North Korea bot trolling job in the hope by anti-gun activists that a judge will slip-up and make a terrible ruling in a barrage of putrid measures. The legislation hastily built to deflect, rather than produce any efficacious protocol to improve public safety.
As law-abiding citizens are transformed into criminals, and career crooks provided with an exclusive invitation to a participation trophy circle of enablement, and given a stern warning to behave by prosecutors with “a try harder in the future” closing life lesson message, the future is now for anarchy and injustice for all.
