Had a bad day at work? Blame the millennials. Lost your dog? Blame the millennials. Your favorite Japanese baseball prospect chose to sign with the Los Angeles Angels? Blame the millennials.
In this age of incessant entitlement, lack of accountability, and safe spaces built with hugs and hot chocolate, the readily apparent scapegoat to all of life’s problems are of course the twenty somethings. However, when a study of 12,000 of the next generation of world leaders and college graduates with absolutely no apparent skills is published and indicates that insanity may exist as selectable trait in peppering the future with an incorrigible zest leading directly to possible doom, quite possibly the blame game contains some validity.
The Daily Mail reports that findings in a recent study showed, that not surprisingly, millennials would date a robot. (Blade Runner?) However, the shocking aspect of the survey’s results, is the magnitude at which the younger generations would embrace robot love. Over a quarter of the participants felt comfortable enough in their own skin, to engage in romantic interludes with a machine that certainly does not have real skin. Eew. Poof. Game over. Humanity is dust in the next 80 years. Add to the doomsday formula that certain university professors are screeching at the top of their academic lungs that sex is not natural and the doomsday formula does not have to involve North Korea ballistic missiles or an alien invasion.
The phenomenon of personal attachment to electronic devices is readily apparent in all cultures, as the savage and survivor characteristics of strength, presence and masculinity are being phased by the millennials addiction to gaming and online interaction. In certain cultures, younger men have completely abandoned the mating instinct in exchange for the instant gratification and stimulus of the virtual world, and the next step to AI orgies is frustratingly pathetic, yet understandable. Even in the US, the university experience and countercultural movements have spawned a shaming mechanism towards the courting process. (the sexual harassment firestorm of allegations over the last month only added to the aversion and confusion of these fine modern times)
For those of us who can still enjoy intimate moments with human partners, the time is now to show these entitled brats what adults do, and do it well.
