The King Of The Oceanic Food Chain Beaches Itself On A Seal Hunt In Patagonia
It has been quite a week for the self-proclaimed “unbiased news source” that is the Seattle Times. In a pure supply of journalistic low hanging fruit for the tabloids, the newspaper serving a niche boutique activism audience in the Pacific Northwest, threw former Starbucks CEO and potential presidential candidate and native son Howard Schultz under the $20 billion tracks of the flawed mass transit project causing perpetual gridlock through out Seattle.
Not to be outdone, the powers that be at the extremist rag, chose to tug at the heart strings of the animal rights lobby by featuring an editorial piece on the salmon run in the upper Snake river, deviously disguised as “Local News”. The only aspect of the disingenuous column that rivals tangible journalism is the unsettling reality that the prose will trigger a protest or three, as the few working class stiffs that remain in the city (Thanks Amazon!) will have to add an extra hour to an already unbearable commute as demonstrators armed with rain drums and aquatic wildlife and Star Wars attire storm the central business district completely oblivious to the utility of sidewalks during a weekday, resulting in unregulated gridlock and teargas-induced emotional breakdowns spurred by violent prayer circles immortalizing a tantalizing array of deities, including RuPaul.
Once again, the Times and an environmental columnist, have their sight set on the ultimate goal of swinging a wrecking ball of ideology and lead, squarely at a series of dams while ignoring reality and a cavalcade of factors, in cuing a quartet of violinists playing a masterful ballad to the local Orca population as the sun gently sets behind the shimmering emerald peaks of the Olympic mountain range. At this intersection of hyperbole and plausible deniability, where the basic doctrines of environmentalism mutate into a belligerent entity comprising uninhibited rhetoric and the absence of logic, the discipline of science is reduced to a influential pawn in spreading disinformation and mistruth. When countered with reasonable retorts involving research and fact, climate alarmists undergo a temporary aversion to biology, chemistry and geology, until an associate performs a convenient fit, as a segue from blatant cognitive dissonance.
Apparently, the publishing syndicate does not give a “dam” about hydroelectric power or the irrigation requirements for the vast farming infrastructure of Washington and Idaho. Instead, humans are placed at the bottom of the totem pole through insufferable propaganda aimed at sparking outrage in the periphery of the radical vote, while supporting a narrative formulated to create unsustainable and damaging policy.
The article makes the following assumptions that defy reality and completely discounts the concept that the mammal is a voracious apex predator.
-The health of Killer whale pods are directly correlative to human intervention, or man made influences and practices effecting the environment. Before its current iteration of “Climate Change”, the concept of detrimental human environmental practices was first labeled “Global Freezing”, until alleged research morphed the term into “Global Warming”.
-The health of Killer whale pods are specifically influenced by the magnitude of salmon species entering Puget Sound via the mouth of the Columbia and Snake River systems.
-Darwinism or factors of evolution play a minor role in breeding numbers of Killer whales.
-The number of salmon returning to hereditary spawning grounds has dwindled due to human intervention, chiefly the presence of dams.
-Rising summer water temperatures are a direct result of mankind introducing “greenhouse” gases into the atmosphere and prompting “Climate Change”.
-Alternative energy sources such as wind and solar power, will at some point reach a level of efficiency that satisfies both thermodynamic and economic requirements.
It is fascinatingly disturbing to witness firsthand the tactics of groups clearly prodding government to take control of resources and land in order to satisfy an agenda not based on forwarding society, but a tawdry “feel good” gesture of emotional activism, with billions of dollars emanating through green technologies and environmental organizations. In giving credit where credit is due, adopting the Orca has the iconic symbol of suffering for the progressive Mother Gaea movement, was a marketing ploy worth its weight in gold. The practice has become industry standard when attempting to institute a wildfire of eminent domain, just ask what was the Mississippi gopher frog, and now the Dusky gopher frog about the power of persuasion.
While the Orca represents aggressive climate policy in the Pacific Northwest, the term “drought” is the snake oil that lobbyists are selling in California. While 40% of the snowpack and runoff flows into the Pacific Ocean every year, the reactionary public relations mechanism has created a “crises” situation to forward an ideology, rather than instituting a practical approach to ensure that irrigation is right. As the federal and state government micromanages the resource, the simple solution is to build more reservoirs, and take the strain off the Colorado River.
Between the myths of the Killer whale and what are supposed journalists smoking in California?, the near future is bleak for residents on the entire West coast, as overzealous reporters cater to the environmental lobby and reactionary individuals. The chaotic rhetoric unfortunately leads to devastating policy, which has damaging effects on private property owners, businesses that rely on natural resources, and tax payer utilities slapped with protective sanctions.
A sensible dosage of environmental stewardship is good thing in the form of the efficient management of waterways and forests, the existence of national and state parks, and an awareness of local flora and fauna, but like everything in life balance is a necessity for sustained success. However, under the influence of the green cult, the game is all or nothing, and everyone is a loser in the dystopian aftermath of strategic brainwashing assisted by the mainstream acting irresponsibly and unethically.
