Leave It To Chuck: Barkley Brings A Reasonable Perspective We All Can Learn From

August 18, 2017 By Conn Williamson

Similar to his inconsistent golf game, where the inevitable shank or worm burner is very rarely complimented by a majestic, fairway seeking drive, the same mantra follows the former NBA star, turned political candidate, turned television personality.

Audiences either love Sir Charles or they hate him.

There is no middle ground in regards to Barkley’s reputation in the American household.

In the aftermath of the recent Charlottesville disaster, the leftists have now focused their attack strategy on historical monuments and statues (hmm, no similarity here to one of the brutal tactics employed by the Bolshevik’s when building a communist dystopian wonderland of totalitarianism.)

Barkley, who attended Auburn University in Alabama, shared with reporter Rick Karle of WBRC-TV, some of his thoughts on the ridiculous tactics employed by antifa, domestics communists, radicals and the debate over the fate over public artifacts from the Civil War era.

“I’ve always ignored them!” he said. “Rick, I’m 54 years old. I’ve never thought about those statues a day in my life. I think if you asked most black people to be honest, they ain’t thought a day in their life about those stupid statues. What we as black people need to do: We need to worry about getting our education, we need to stop killing each other, we need to try to find a way to have more economic opportunity and things like that. Those things are important and significant. You know, I’m wasting time and energy [if I’m] screaming at a neo-Nazi, or [saying] ‘Man, you’ve got to take this statue down.’ ”

The NBA Hall of Fame inductee, also gave President Trump some wise career advice as to the proper us of Twitter when dealing with the constant criticism inherent in being as a public figure. Barkley saved the ultimate gem of the interview for a shot to the jaw of CNN, in comparing certain content and programming decisions of the network with juvenile behavior. What makes this so sweet, is that he is employed by Turner at TNT as a studio commentator for the NBA. Turner of course also owns CNN.
