The Second Amendment Foundation and Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms are preparing for the 36th annual Gun Rights Policy Conference Sept. 25-26, which will be online again this year, thanks to continued problems with COVID-19.
According to SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb, the theme of this year’s event is “Saving Freedom!” Pre-registration is open at www.saf.org/grpc/.
“Despite the continuing attacks on the Second Amendment by the Biden administration,” Gottlieb observed Tuesday morning, “the gun rights movement has seen many successful advancements of gun rights this year. We now have a record number of Second Amendment Sanctuary cities and counties pushing back on federal gun control mandates as well as a record number of constitutional carry states where you no longer need a permit to exercise your constitutional rights for personal protection and self-defense.”
This year, Texas became the 20th state where no permit is required to carry a firearm. Several entire states are on record as “Second Amendment” sanctuaries, and so are hundreds of counties across the country. The movement has been gaining momentum since Joe Biden was inaugurated, and the recent withdrawal of his nomination of anti-gunner David Chipman to head the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is being hailed as a huge victory for the gun rights movement.
This is the second year for the virtual GRPC event. According to Gottlieb, the program will feature some 100 speakers. That’s come a long way since the first event, which he recalled as having 20 speakers and 70 people attending.
Accordng to SAF, this year’s speakers include:
- More than a dozen attorneys who have filed some of the most important Second Amendment cases in the past year, across the country.
- John Lott, economist, author and researcher
- Cam Edwards, host of Cam & Company and BearingArms.com
- Stephen Gutowski, staff writer for The Reload
- AWR Hawkins, author and contributor at Breitbart News
- Mark Walters, host of Armed American Radio
- Alan Gottlieb, Founder Second Amendment Foundation
- Massad Ayoob, renowned trainer and author, and SAF president
- Dave Kopel, Second Amendment author and scholar
- David T. Hardy, Esq., litigator, video producer, historian
This year’s presentations will include a discussion about how COVID impacted Second Amendment supporters, plus a look at the situation in Illinois with FOID licenses. And, of course, there will an in-depth discussion of the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association case that will be argued before the U.S. Supreme Court in November, SAF says on its website.
According to SAF, last year’s virtual conference had more than 6,500 pre-registered participants, who got to view the entire conference from the comfort of their own homes.
“The GRPC has become a ‘must attend’ event for gun rights advocates and grassroots activists across the country, and more importantly so with Joe Biden in the White House,” said Gottlieb, who also chairs the Citizens Committee.
