Rep. Nunes says he will push to hold Sessions in contempt for withholding critical investigation documents
Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Devin Nunes called for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to be held in ‘contempt of Congress’ over the weekend for his refusal to comply with multiple subpoenas surrounding ongoing investigations.
On Fox & Friends, Rudy Guiliani claims, “This is a witch-hunt with a tremendous amount of government misconduct attached to it. Attorney General Sessions should step up and dismiss this entire investigation.”
According to Hannity.com:
Rep. Nunes was speaking with Fox News over the weekend when he called-out the Attorney General for refusing to hand over un-redacted files associated with the Russia investigation and FISA warrants.
“On Thursday we discovered that they are not going to comply with our subpoena,” Nunes said on “Fox and Friends,” adding, “The only thing left to do is we have to move quickly to hold the attorney general of the United States in contempt and that is what I will press for this week.”
The DOJ fired-back at Nunes within hours, saying they had acted according to “applicable law and longstanding executive branch policy” in handing over the documents.
