Three cheers for Che Guevara! Three cheers for Nicolas Maduro! The economic situation has become so dire in Venezuela, that citizens are now forced to compete against one another in purchasing crucial medicines and other medical supplies from street peddlers. The looming question is, “Can they afford it?”
Yahoo News reports that the prescription drug market in the flailing nation, operates at only a 15% capacity, leaving individuals with medical conditions the unsavory option of purchasing medicines through either the unregulated black market, or even worse from neighborhood “flea markets”. Along with a scarcity of basic necessities ranging from food to clothing, a horrific reality spawned by the policies of the current regime and soaring inflation rates, residents are now forced to gamble with their lives on the irony that drugs bought from the streets may be expired or could potentially cause further health issues. In response to the growing medicinal black black market, right on cue, Maduro released an incredulous statement castigating the “enemies” of Socialism and laying the blame to the scarcity of the prescription market on outlandish theories involving conspiracy and US led strategic and coordinated efforts to ultimately destroy the modern dystopian nightmare of Venezuela.
Allegedly, the Colombians, as friendly border neighbors to the West, do their best in keeping all supply chains of the prescription drug market flowing into Santiago a bustling one-way flow of cash, in further bleeding a dying entity dry, yet the real cannibalization occurs within site of the Venezuelan capital. As economic disaster is a veritable fertile breeding ground for desperation, some health care workers freely contribute to the overall inventory selection of the black market which leads directly to a dearth of product in local clinics and hospitals. The echoes from a trickle down effect in an already crumbling economic climate are as blatant as the burgeoning wallet size of each of the Maduro government cabinet members along with decadent champagne dinners, compared with the rampart paucity and chaos of a middle class driven into obscurity by a failed political ideology harnessed with the kiss of a tyrant.
Congratulations Maduro, your selfish social experiment transformed a successful economy, into a third world post-apocalyptic wasteland marked by failure and gloom.
