In a developing story that only exacerbates the mournful aftermath of the Las Vegas shooting tragedy, reports are circulating that iconic modern artist and lyricist Tom Petty has passed away at the age of 66.
Rolling Stone has confirmed that the Rock and Roll hall of fame member suffered cardiac arrest Sunday night and remains hospitalized and on life support. Ongoing rumors from various sources have suggested that Petty has died, after medical professionals found no evidence of brain activity and made the decision to cease resuscitation efforts, but there has been no official confirmation.
Petty enjoyed an illustrious career in the limelight of the stage spanning nearly 42 years, and recorded a number of hit songs. He and his memorable group, the Heartbreakers, just recently wrapped a Summer tour.
