The Second Amendment Foundation has kicked off its celebration of 50 years on the front lines of the gun rights battle by launching an updated television ad campaign, “to raise the curtain on its legal action program, battling President Joe Biden’s gun grabbing agenda.”
Founded in 1974 by Alan Gottlieb, SAF has become a legal powerhouse over the past half-century, with court victories at all levels, including the U.S. Supreme Court in a case known as McDonald v. City of Chicago. That was 14 years ago, Gottlieb marveled in a recent conversation with TGM, adding that a great deal has been accomplished in the years since. Over the years, he said in a press release, SAF has been involved in more than 260 legal actions, and the group currently has almost 60 cases in progress.
Gottlieb still is at the SAF helm, as executive vice president.
“Pennsylvania-based attorney Adam Kraut joined our team 16 months ago as executive director, bringing additional energy, expertise and experience to SAF’s important effort to win firearms freedom, one lawsuit at a time,” the SAF release noted.
“Our strategic litigation program has already proven effective, but there are more battles on the horizon,” Gottlieb said. “It is imperative for gun owners to become involved in our effort to organize, educate and litigate against Joe Biden’s gun prohibition agenda. Heading into the 2024 election cycle, it is clear Biden is stepping up his campaign to crush the Second Amendment, and we will meet that challenge in courtrooms across the country, while we educate the public on the dangers of his anti-gun-rights agenda on the airwaves.”
SAF’s new 60-second message will appear this week on the following networks: Fox News, Fox Biz, CNN, MSNBC, HLN, Weather Channel, CNBC, Bloomberg, BBC America, World Fishing, History Channel, TBN, AHC, Outdoor Channel, Game Show, RFD, OANN, and DISH TV. The message will be broadcast a total of 91 times.
The blistering message reminds viewers how far-left anti-gunners, including Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, have repeatedly insisted “nobody is coming after your guns.”
But a video clip of Biden during a CNN Townhall broadcast in 2021 tells a different story. In that moment of unscripted candor, Biden admitted he has not only pushed to ban the sale of so-called “assault rifles,” which are the AR-15-based modern semi-auto—the most popular rifle in America—but he also wants to ban 9mm pistols.
“We’re encouraging every gun owner in the country to participate in our new legal action program by calling 800-241-4882, and pressing #1 to join,” Gottlieb said. “So far in the courts, we have been able to block Biden’s efforts to ban arm braces and re-classify firearm receivers, but more needs to be done. Joe Biden and his gun grabbing administration are throwing everything at the Second Amendment, and we’re determined to stop them before they destroy the cornerstone of our Constitution.”
