A Green Viper snake (Trimeresurus stejnegeri) was peacefully enjoying the next leg of a North American tour in the overhead luggage compartment of a flight from Torreon, Mexico to Mexico City, when things started to go wrong.
The Snake who has chosen anonymity and the name “Mildred”, apparently distracted by the festive dimensions of a piñata in the style of Cartel leader El Chapo, accidentally slithered into the main cabin of the Embraer two-engine commuter aircraft and startled passengers, ultimately leading to an emergency landing in Mexico City.
Much to the dismay of the Mildred, fellow travelers used blankets and magazines to secure the animal before agents were able to extricate the snake from the plane.
According to Fox News, passengers on the usual two-hour Aeromexico flight connecting municipalities in the central region of the country, suffered no injuries other than the horrendous recollection of a forgettable Hollywood film. The airline has yet to comment on any pending compensation towards Mildred and the unfortunate misunderstanding.
Mildred, a resident of Asia, was undergoing a “dream” tour of author Ray Bradbury’s travels in Mexico. Whether or not he or she was harmed in any way in this sorted plot, is up to the decision of the Mexican judicial system and the influence of El Chapo.
