Don’t mess with armed Uber drivers.
At least that is the lesson that one crook learned the hard way in an attempted robbery Sunday in Florida, in spite of the ride share company’s staunch anti-firearm policy for drivers and passengers using the app.
According to WPLG-TV and Aventura police, the Uber driver transporting a passenger to the airport, was forced to stop their vehicle in middle of the freeway by two men in a minivan and chaos ensued. The driver of the minivan approached the victim’s vehicle brandishing firearms and made forceful requests. The victim did not comply, and fired four shots at the armed perp, killing him. Police noted that the Uber driver had a license to carry. The other crook in the minivan fled the scene and was later stopped by authorities and taken into custody for questioning. The silver lining to this whole narrative is that the passenger was not injured.
Of course, Uber company officials are currently “investigating the incident.” It should be noted that Uber and chief competitor Lyft need to change their firearms rules, as both companies are effectively creating mobile guns- free zone that is obvious to criminals.
