The Art Of Minimalization- Don’t Blame Us

April 18, 2024 By Conn Williamson

Clavell.  Mencius. de Beauvoir.

Sun Tzu has apparently been left out of the bracket of the breakfast of striving intellectual champions, as consumerism remains a dichotomy in the quasi-free market age of the infantile stages of the Information Age, where content is akin to substance and an implied magnitude of physical matter, which coincides with a “vise versa” recourse and the pathway to submission.

While transferring books to the digital realm remains an arduous challenge rivaling scanning tens of thousands of family pictures in an endeavor that rivals the hellfires of torture, written texts are no longer simply barbequed in a Nazi celebration of cauterization, but recklessly thrown into mountains of discarded detritus at Chinese ports, where Sherpas imported from Lhasa (Tibet) navigate to the precipice with a meaningful poignance.

As tons are weighed and space calculated, the future of enjoying a physical book in hand faces the fate of innovation combined with the passive aggressive, the printed word remains in critical condition, as individuals are condition to crave literal abbreviations over thought experiments and introspection.

Humanity is downsizing in every facet of life through the obliviousness of technological worship, with bicycles being replaced by glorified scooters, and the tapestry of US urban areas transformed to the 1960’s milieu of Phnom Penh or Singapore, where Sartre magically appeared in the style of Nabokov’s color by numbers. With the unrelenting onset of automation, critical thinking skills remain in a critical state.

Tangibility is facing a painful and slow eradication, as the intimacy and synapses of the touch and feel is now manifested among the softscreens of discontent and the gateway to dreamworld, where the entrance to the substrate and the subsequent portal equates to vacuity. With the annihilation of pulp and text, the intrigue and comfort of the intellectual and relaxing exercise of the mind, the propensity of the disconnect is both disconcerting and relative to an unwavering future of volatility and a mundane uncertainty steeped in fate. Environmentalists are convinced that traditional books are bad for the planet, while completely ignoring the fact that it takes massive amounts of electricity to display pixilated words on a device. Who actually reads the voters’ pamphlet anyways?

While the younger generations are weened from embracing the meaningful and wholesome conjuring of innovation and imagination, chaos and insanity looms, as dystopia exists just over the horizon with a destiny fueled by progress, yet lacking purpose. It is by no accident that the current destructive environment of randomness continues to expound upon the relevant-irrelevancy in illustrating an irrelevant narrative lacking a compatibility with truth and the basic fundamentals of compassion, justice, and love.

With the evolving and wayward technologies of ChatGPT and other purported AI decision making infrastructures, the art of writing is already becoming a premium, at least on a basic level and a subsequent magnitude of marketability. The nuances of lexicon and vernacular, are devolving into the realm of obscurity, as both authors and linguists face an unstable future due to the instability propagated from the gravitation away from empiricism. Coupled with the existence of countercultural influences, a feasible interpretation of reality is completely inundated by intellectual dishonesty, and the adherence to the visceral as logic takes a prolonged sabbatical.

While emotion is a valuable tool in evaluating one’s interpretation of the universe, indifference still afflicts the terrestrial world with a false positive which merely echoes insight in the crudest possible model of effectively reading a book, without actually processing the meaning or the subtleties within the text. With life swiftly being digitized, the human condition is becoming exactly that, as victims are being programmed to be indifferent. Don’t blame us (sarcasm font).
