Folks left of center politically in the Pacific Northwest have deviated on such a relentless and impassioned 90 degree turn to the west, that much like the temporal space time continuum framework of the original Pac-Man 8 bit arcade game, where the characters of the game are immune from the rules of physics in passing from one side of the screen to the other with relative ease.
In the case of the misguided activists, the elitist masses charge through one side of the political spectrum and magically appear on the other side reborn as fascists in a dazed state of vapid incredulity.
Reason disappears within the haze and spooky presence of Blinky, Inky, Pinky, and the indelibly scheming Clyde, as the rare instances and tattered remnants of logic lie in waste next to the debris from the fragmented pillar concepts of a free society. The idealistic digital construct of the techosphere influence culture accepts no contrarian perspective to the rigid tenets of the progressive movement, which borders the Eastern Bloc philosophy of tyrannical communism, in a horrific trickle down manifestation of corruption, the homeless industrial complex, government land grab schemes, unchecked bureaucracy, and the proliferation of special interests. And like a group of lemmings transfixed by one-sided trending news of the social networks, and the viral clip of a femme fatale comedian dressed in drag and building a Dubai skyscraper 200 floor high epithet of choice expletives and blundering incoherence, the blue wave of voters transcend intolerance, and embrace ridicule.
Just leave it to the pesky staff of the Seattle Times in propagating low hanging fruit to incite a visceral chain reaction of epic proportions, by simply endorsing a GOP candidate in the leftist majority population regions throughout the lowlands of Puget Sound. Dino Rossi, who twice ran for the gubernatorial seat on the Republican ticket in Washington state, is the current focus of a digital street brawl between commentators from a global perspective on the newspaper’s website, as to the blessing received from the editorial staff. Most notably present amid the anonymous chambers of the online forums, are diplomatic trolls from China, Russia, North Korea, Equatorial Guinea, and CANADA? Yes, Canadian account holders possess a Pac-Man style power-up when it comes to posting insidious and detrimental rhetoric commentary in response to political happenings in the US. It is a rather bizarre and disturbing microcosm to the amount of energy, time and money that is wasted on self-validating activities in the age of the portable and perpetual device.
Enjoy the commenting fun here.
Rossi is facing Democrat Kim Schrier in the heated race for the 8th district congressional position, which incorporates the eastern suburbs of Seattle and Tacoma, and areas east of the Cascade mountain range. In a testament to the raucous environment of the Seattle Time’s comment board, the campaigns methods of the candidates has taken a “gloves off” approach, with an aggressive style of hit pieces taking over the local television airwaves. With both competitors vying to become the successor to Republican Dave Reichert in a pivotal race, the results are of interest on a national scale, and large sums of money have been invested within each campaign.
The caveat to the insane jewel of political intrigue, is that the left-leaning Seattle Times went against its base with the endorsement of Rossi, and in actually building a cohesive argument for the Republican. Just maybe there is hope. Yeah right, it’s Seattle.
If one could only escape into the construct of Pac-Man for a minute, all for the price of a quarter, maybe a slice of pizza, a beer, and a dream.
