As the post-memorial day celebration of “dads and grads” kicks off, the intrigue surrounds who or what will be giving the commencement speech at institutions of higher learning and organizations bestowing participation trophies onto legions of pseudo-graduates ill-prepared to assimilate into the contemporary job market. Keeping in mind that 58, as of this instant 59 recognized pronouns distinguishing the gender and sexual identifying characteristics of an individual pervade college culture, many universities have opted not to print graduation itineraries for fear of confusing the family’s of graduates, and adhering to sanctioned environmental friendly practices preserving designated logging areas already managed and coordinated for annual harvests.
Between the pandemic and continuous civil unrest, obvious popular choices outside of dignitaries and politicians, are celebrities, prominent members of the health care community, and the trending social justice activists. While the presence of professional instigators on public and private campuses teeming with crowds is a disconcerting vision, the majority of students have already been indoctrinated against adversaries of groupthink triggering a serious emotional response. Obviously, this will not be an issue for virtual keynote engagements.

On the flip side of things, Hillsdale College chose to roll with Tim Allen, Tim Tebow is the ambassador for Liberty University’s graduation, and the University of Massachusetts and the University o Utah decided to go with sports figureheads in the form of hockey coach Greg Carvel, and Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell respectively. Officials in Salt Lake wrestled over the notion of selecting Mitchell’s teammate Rudy Gobert, who is infamous for the off the court incident of deliberately wiping his Covid-19 positive oven mitts over a bank of microphones during a post-game press conference, but cooler heads prevailed.
In an interesting example of a symbiotic relationship, the record number of social activists acting as keynote speakers is in direct correlation with the viral conversation emanating through social media devoted to societal engineering. The equation is fairly simple as F***book and Twitter offer a platform for polarizing individuals to trend, and the staggering amount of traffic as a result fuels the exponential growth of digital communities to the point of straining the power in developing nations. Without the existence of social networks, the rhetoric and platitudes of lunatic activists would be severely limited and vise versa, as the Silicon Valley hierarchy does an effective job moderating contrary viewpoints to Leftist propaganda. Imagine a world absent from tweets and twits, it is rather difficult even if one tries to block out the current nightmare of hysteria.
