Random research journeys on the multitudinous digital spokes of the internet wheel are not reserved for geeks and librarians anymore. (No offense to the traditional furors of preserving the quiet solitude in “shoosing” three generations of readers. The modern concert venue of a circus noisy library environment, due to the prevalence of the homeless, entitled youth, and cellphone yentas discussing the box score of a teenage soccer game, is not for the faint of heart.)
The plight of the modern library aside, the advantages of conducting a passive digital research project utilizing a popular, yet biased search engine, in the comfort of a peaceful office place, and with the security of a laptop and a microbrew, far outweigh a trip to a public facility, where generous concessions are made towards misbehaving individuals. With the nightmare that has become Venezuela, and the tyrannical rule blood stained iron clad regime of a dictator channeling his inner Che Guevara just across the Caribbean Sea from the land for freedom, a passive look into how the digital community categorizes the presence of Socialism proved fascinatingly disappointing. It was almost as bad as hosting a party with putrid 160 proof grain alcohol that would be better served as fuel for the golf courts transporting dignitaries across state property, the booze paid for by the hard work of others, and the event staffed with slave labor. According to the “objective” sentiments of Wikipedia, 33 rulers would have made the guest list at the world’s worst gala, and with the reverberating echoes of “Tovarish” in the background as the universal Leninist greeting still resounding a century after the October revolution.
Reactionary radicals, armed with the egregiously vapid talking points of Bernie Sanders blaming everything on corporations, take a superficial stand in purveying the nightmarish misnomer of Democratic Socialism, while failing to grasp the detrimental ramifications of introducing elements of broken political philosophy into American society. The snarky arrogance of cultural engineers is even more infuriating, when proponents of trashing the Constitution and free market economic principles fail epically in revisionist history in failing to acknowledge the praise bestowed up Fidel Castro by Sanders in the 1980’s in lauding the healthcare innovations of the communist nation. These same open-minded folks leftist folks, many who support a homosexual lifestyle will jump on the love for Cuban bandwagon, even though that during the height of the Castro regime was marked by stark and troubling persecution towards gays in the society of Machismo. This instance of perpetual cognitive dissonance is evidence of a group of people so blinded by ideology and lacking basic academic research skills, that shallow talking points quantify as the basis for a belief system, leading to a complete absence of healthy debate.
Within the three pronged system of liberty infused critical thinking skills, there exists a natural progression beginning with perception and concluding with making a rationale judgement based on evidence and facts. Unfortunately, due to a failing public education system and addiction to the instant gratification and self-validation intoxicant of the social networks, individuals are barely scratching the surface in understanding the complexities of the world, and in the process rewriting proven history, a scenario that Sanders, the Clintons, George Soros, and Hollywood dutifully embraces.
The popular response to the tyranny and human rights horrors brutally facilitated by Stalin and Mao, “We are too advanced to have that happen in this modern utopia of hand holding and the empty gesture that is the foundation of the peace movement. A simple retort to the insanity, there exists hundreds of millions of reasons why Socialism morphs into the territory of evil, and it is always a good idea until the first party member starts of chain reaction of corruption leading to murderous purges and all for the sake of greed.
Alarmingly, a recent poll of millennials evaluating the legacy of George Washington and Obama, saw that 44% of participants believe that the 8 year regime of Barrack was more impressive within the context of history. Again, the handicap of relying on perception as the sole mechanism in an argument rears its ugly head, with the bias of the media, educators, and social networking communities, the ominous culprits in controlling the past and thus influencing the future.
The Orwellian properties aside, the disconnect with the younger generations in failing to comprehend the terror of Socialist societies made global headlines last year, as three UCLA basketball players were arrested for shoplifting in Hangzhou. As UCLA has a storied reputation as a destination of scholars and athletes, the labels do not apply to the members of the team obviously completely oblivious to the idea of a foreign country, the most sophisticated facial recognition surveillance equipment on the planet, and the doctrines of Leninism resounding throughout the modern empty ghost cities of glass and decadent architecture. The perception of these young men apparently started and stopped with the mentality of that China is probably the 52nd state of the union, and we are above the law as dunk masters of aerial athletic YouTube videos, the rigors of forced labor camp not even in their wildest dreams. Of course Trump bartered with Chinese officials to save the players from five years of hell for stealing sun glasses, but the press chose to bury the noble actions of the Commander in Chief. The pertinent question is did they learn their lesson, or will a vast majority be able to overcome the damming disadvantage of forced biases creating a stagnation in the evolution of critical thinking skills.
The answer is “Implement socialism, Alex!” as the equalities guaranteed by the Bill of Rights are apparently not enough, for those who suffer from economic and academic envy. Redistributing the hard work and accumulated wealth of others, is the hipster solution to all of life’s problems, along with shaming religion and owning a dog in a studio apartment. I guess those people don’t want to here the cruel fate of pets once food becomes rationed. Just walk around downtown Athens, Greece, a country on the Wikipedia Socialist state list, and any animal lover would endure a complete emotional breakdown.
Rome was not built in one day, and it took years of horrendous public policy marked by mass immigration, to effectively and utterly destroy a society that at one time enjoyed the eloquent heights of free thought and reason before completely surrendering to chaos. As devices become more sophisticated and IQ’s plummet, the dangers of reckless idealism and environment not conducive to productive debate need to be taken very seriously and fought through increased trips to the library.
“Shoosh!” with the pipe dream of Democratic Socialism. Let’s shut this party down.
