As Chicago is a hub for American and United Airlines and its central location, O’Hare is the busiest airport on the planet. Even late at night, long range jet aircraft are landing and carrying passengers to the Windy City from around the globe.
YouTube user FlyGuy733LN used shear will to test the constant stream of Boeings and Airbuses in making a request to the control tower to land a Cessna amidst the busy traffic and potentially hazardous threat of wake turbulence. The video is beautiful and eloquent and highlighted by the stunning views of Chicago’s shimmering lights.
Amazingly, aircraft control cleared the maverick pilot to land behind a massive 747, and he executed a perfect landing in true “Top Gun” style. As O’Hare is a public airfield, private aircraft are allowed to make landing requests, though with the heavy volume of commercial carriers clogging the 8 runways of the airport, it is definitely on a first come, first serve basis.
