Oregon Governor Kate Brown is the epitome of a progressive by actively imposing legislation that she and colleagues deem looks good on paper, but in reality, is an absolute train wreck in costing tax paying law-abiding citizens billions in undoing the damage. It’s like a bad rendition of “Lord of The Flies”, as individuals marooned on their own island of discontent, lack the necessary skills and capabilities to build a simple shelter, and hunt or fish for food. For this ilk of idealists, Darwinism is both a conundrum, and an inherent danger. In all probability, Brown has never touched a firearm in her life.
Brown’s wailing SOS across the ocean to preserve her reputation and appease her voting base came in the form of a pair of strict gun control measures that may be a template for Democratic lawmakers in other blue states. Her willingness to sign into bill an omnibus restrictive firearm package, holding individuals accountable for the actions of criminals in the aftermath of gun thefts, requiring that residents store their arsenal at all times in a locked container with a padlock or trigger cable, and allowing municipalities free reign to create “gun free” zones at their discretion. If that is not enough, the dear leader of Governors increased the fee for concealed handgun licenses, and makes is a felony to violate the rules of the aforementioned “gun free” zones. Take a deep breath.
The disparaging duo of HB 2510 and SB 554 have been hailed by the anti-firearm lobby as a win for “common sense” gun laws, while Second Amendment advocates are understandably stewing at Brown’s blatant attack on the Constitution, and preparing for a stiff legal challenge. This is where the monetary damages to the average resident come into play, as the daunting time and money required to alleviate the nuclear holocaust of a policy nightmare is of no concern obvious concern to leftist politicians.
Earlier this year, Brown handled the Covid-19 reopening with the indifference of a Canadian Parliament member, as she reprehensibly delayed small college athletes from participating in sanctioned NCAA contests, even though the University of Oregon and Oregon State University were already playing games, and the Portland Trailblazers was the last franchise in the NBA to have live fans in attendance. Add to the mix the ongoing civil unrest in Portland and the enabling and coddling of violent anarchists, and the Gavin Newsom award for Left coast lawmaking gross incompetence goes to…
As Oregon ranks as the 9th largest state in area, including vast tracks of forests and agriculture, the distinction between urban and rural is vital in offering citizens the ability to reasonably protect themselves in regions where law enforcement is simply not a phone call away. The importance of unimpeded gun rights for the population scattered outside of the metropolitan areas, is apparently lost on the second term bureaucrat. Similar to Governor Jay Inslee of Washington just across the Columbia river to the north, Brown’s disconnect with the reality generated by the state’s topography is unforgivable and is embraced by the ineptness of Portland trendy hipsters to process the world past their pot smoke addled condos of tri-gendered pseudo-science activism. These are the culprits for the continuous election of radical gun prohibitionists into public office such as Brown, and though hope remains that 2022 will once again change the national political tapestry for the better, cautious optimism is currently a safer bet.
