The unusually long sniper rifle featured in the video below is 6 feet, 8 inches long and is one of the longest rifles ever made. There’s a reason for that!
According to awn.com, Anzio Ironworks created the gun known as the 20x102mm Ultra Long Range Sniper System. The creators wanted to increase the precision range from 2,000 yards to upwards of 3,500 yards (or about 2 miles).
When you see this gun in action, you might wonder about the practicality of a gun this big, but watch how the sniper can take down a target more than 2-miles away. The way America and our allies are fighting ISIS in the Middle East, this kind of weapon could prove instrumental for taking out leaders, executioners, terrorists, and other snipers from a distance far enough away to minimize the risk to American lives.
In the video a marksman from Tactical Life lies on his stomach and fires the Ultra Long Range Sniper System at a distant target. Here’s what the blog post on Tactical Life said about the development of this ultra-long sniper rifle:
“Building on his success, Mike Remo of Anzio Ironworks wanted to move out the limit for precision fire from 2,000 yards to a full 3,000 yards (and maybe 3,500 yards). As a result, Mike developed the Mag-Fed 20x102mm magazine fed, bolt action Ultra Long Range Sniper System to accomplish that goal. Using modern computerized optics the Mag-Fed 20mm can be effectively used for anti-material and counter-sniping out to well beyond .50 BMG range. Why is that significant? Enemy combatants might have access to .50 BMG or similar sniper rifles, and only a 20mm weapon can outrange and dominate that kind of threat.”
The shells are enormous; anyone hit with one of these bullets would be taken out from any distance.
