It’s presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump by a landslide over presumptive Democrat nominee Hillary Rodham Clinton in an online poll conducted this month by the KeepAndBearArms.com website.
One keen observer of this sweep is Mark Walters, host of Armed American Radio. He is also a member of the board of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, and a regular columnist for Concealed Carry Magazine, a publication owned by the U.S. Concealed Carry Association, Inc.
With nearly 1,200 votes cast, there is a Trump tsunami sweeping across the political landscape. So far, Trump has captured 85 percent of the vote, with Clinton trailing badly at only 5.5 percent.
According to Walters, this should hardly come as a shock to political observers.
“The recent poll results showing Donald Trump as the candidate of choice for gun owners is no surprise,” Walters told Liberty Park Press, “considering that Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party have made it abundantly clear they are seeking to destroy the right to bear arms by making gun control the centerpiece of her campaign.”
Clinton virtually declared war on gun rights a year ago, and she has not wavered. In town hall meetings she has voiced interest in gun control efforts in Australia, where gun owners were compelled to surrender certain types of firearms. Noting that, Walters cautioned gun owners to get behind the presumptive GOP nominee, rather than cast a “protest vote” for a third party candidate, or simply not voting.
“Donald Trump is the clear choice for gun owners in the November elections,” he said. “Sitting out the election or voting third party is a vote for the destruction of our Second Amendment rights.”
